Lasha is a full-time artist creating detailed,
fine art mosaics using hand cut pieces of stained glass.
Her B.F.A. in printmaking and life-long love of painting
and drawing have led to a unique, distinctive mosaic style.
Each mosaic begins with an idea that is transformed into
preliminary sketches. To make a strong composition, Lasha
creates pattern, direction and contrast within the work
by cutting and shaping the glass into small pieces and orientating
them in specific ways within the mosaic. This procedure
can be quite repetitive and time-consuming as most of her
mosaics contain hundreds and sometimes thousands of pieces,
but it is a positive, meditative experience.
